Are You Using Your Full Heart’s Capacity?

You know how they say we only use about 10% of our mental capacity?  I think the same must hold true for our heart capacity as well.  My heart is opening, opening, opening, with this new 5D energy flowing into our world and right now I am doing my best to allow myself to utilize more of what must be a HUGE innate capacity to live from a heart centered space.

Based on my work over the past 10 years with the Core Dynamics, I am completely comfortable with the capacity to “feel everything fully.”  I also easily recognize when I am bumping up against some sort of limitation that, until I bump into its edge, I am completely clueless to.  I know I’m on this edge when I feel flooded with emotions and tears flow.  I believe tears always represent a release of resistance and usher in an opening within me.

Easter Sunday was just such a day of emotions, tears and openings for me.  It began with a bike ride where I listened to a recording of Andrew Harvey talking about “Rediscovering the Christ Path.”  It was my second time to listen to this and it continued to stir deep knowings.  The particular section so present for me yesterday was the concept of the marriage of the Divine Feminine with the Divine Masculine within me to birth the Divine Child, the incarnation on this physical planet of myself as Spirit (read more).

It is this way of being, Spirit Incarnate, or “walking Christ’s Path,” that our new 5D energy is supporting.  We can now fully experience the marriage of Heart and Head, of Mysticism and Sacred Activism, of Heaven and Earth, no longer in duality, but in communion.

Not a regular church-goer I attended Easter services with my mom at her church.  My heart soared with the opening bell choir, then continued to fly wide open as the vocal choir’s harmony hit a crescendo. During the first hymn, one familiar to me from my youth, I felt myself as a 6 year old listening to my mother and believing that she sounded like an angel.  I was flooded with love for this beautiful woman I am lucky enough to call my mother.  My heart swelled, tears pricked my eyes, and I continued to breathe deeply reassuring myself that it is possible to be with such a wide open heart, that it’s possible to access a greater percentage of my capacity without being overwhelmed by its bigness.

The sermon was given from the perspective of Mary Magdalene, what it must have been like to watch the teacher/man that she loved be humiliated, tortured and nailed to a cross.  During the description I could feel such deep grief and suffering, knowing from experience just how difficult it is to be with someone you love who is in pain.  The Divine Feminine was very present in this emotion, eyes brimming, deep breathing, feeling fully.

And then came the last song.  Again, one that I knew well from long ago Easter services that asks the question, “You ask me how I know He (I personally define Jesus as ‘Love’) lives?” and answers with, “He (Love) lives within my heart.”  My heart expanding, opening, expanding, opening, and then I saw an older man singing.  He didn’t look anything like my Dad, but there was something in his energy that so reminded me of my Dad, and then my Dad, who transitioned 8 years ago, was there.  He was beside me wrapping his arms around my mom and I, and love was pouring over us.  Okay, I lost it then.  Everyone was walking out and I started sobbing with joy and love and hope and sadness too, letting go of any resistance to opening my Heart as fully as I can today to the Love that is building and expanding on our planet.

This is not about religion, this service just created a portal for me.

  • Are you expanding your ability to feel Love, Joy, Compassion, Hope, and Gratitude at levels that might have once overwhelmed you?

I am so Grateful for Guidance from my Higher Self

I am so grateful.

I am so grateful that I have practiced communicating with, and opening to the guidance of my Higher Self on a regular, consistent basis.

I am so grateful that I can hear, see, smell, receive, feel, touch, surrender to, and interpret this ongoing communication that flows to me unceasingly from my Higher Self.

 

If January was about sitting back (read more), then February was about bounding forward!  Things came together all of a sudden in February for my husband and I to take action on a home renovation project that has been on the vision board for years and years.

And, my Higher Self is here with me every step of the way.

 “Throw this away?  Get this shredded?”  A very certain “yes” or “no” is present.

 “Whom should I give this to?” A feeling about a specific person or organization shows up, and I’ve noticed it is appreciatively accepted.

 “Where is such and such?”  I can see clearly the box where it’s been packed, or the location in my house or car where the lost object is hiding.

These seem sort of trivial things when I write them here, but what I know is that my life flows easier, decisions seem clearer, and stress and worry are almost non-existent as I lean into this treasured skill that perhaps I had come to take for granted.

What it means is that I am actually living in each present moment these days.

I stay in the present moment even as I purge and release my hold on the past, and even as we create plans for this project’s future.  My foundation of trust in my Higher Self is being beautifully illuminated for me to see and appreciate.  What I am recognizing here is an outward manifestation of the inward embodiment of my Essence, fully allowing myself as a Spiritual Being to be doing. 

HA! This is what it looks like to “incarnate” as your Spirit.  It looks like every day life on the outside.  Yet there is this beautiful harmonic chord of peace, vibrancy, excitement, joy, happiness, curiosity, freedom, and more, on the inside.  How sweet is that?

I am so grateful. 

Ideas for Opening to the Guidance of Your Higher Self:

  • Sink your awareness into your heart space, close your eyes and take several deep breaths.  Ask any question you want to of your Higher Self and wait expectantly for an answer to “bubble up” from deep inside.  Build your foundation of trust by beginning with little, non-consequential questions such as “What is the optimal dish for me to order?” or “Which email is best for me to read first?”  Play with the results by looking for the fun synchronicities that show up when you follow this guidance, even on little things.

Medicine Wheel Provides Another Tool for Guidance

I love that there are many ways to connect with your Higher Self.  I had the pleasure Thursday afternoon to explore the use of the Native American medicine wheel as such a portal. Marilyn Naylor, a metaphysical counselor who uses this ancient wisdom in her work, shared this powerful approach for accessing guidance that is also totally congruent with our modern life.

The medicine wheel is structured around a North, East, South, and West orientation.  Each direction is associated with a particular process of guidance, and once begun, you must always move clockwise in the circle accessing higher/inner guidance in that order. Moving counterclockwise is problematic. That results in feeling stuck, disconnected, and out of synch, causing you to create discontent through bad decisions and poor choices.

The North (Winter) centers on thinking; the East (Spring) is about believing; the South (Summer) opens to your emotions and how you feel and the West (Fall) is what you physically know through your 5 senses and revolves around taking action.  Your season of birth indicates where you begin on the wheel.

My birthday is in the Spring and so my process is to consider life’s challenges based first on what I believe, then on how I feel about the challenge.  Next I consider how that challenge is impacting me in the “real” world, i.e., what is the impact on my physical body, the people around me, my environment, etc.  And the LAST thing is for me to use my intellect, to notice what I’m thinking about the challenge.  To move forward I must use the process of believe, feel, know, think.

Guess what the hardest part of this is?  We have so much conditioning in our world to THINK it’s easy to get sucked into trying to figure things out using my intellect and that, for me, (and any Spring baby), is going counterclockwise/backwards on the wheel!  Uh-oh.

Turns out, however, that no matter where you are supposed to start on the wheel, moving backwards is seductive.

It’s tempting to say it must be easiest to be born in the Winter and start in the North with thinking.  But, one look at our culture and you can see we are conditioned to take action (West orientation).  So Winter people start with “thinking” then get sucked into “doing” which is backwards!  The process that would put them into a flow state is to think, believe, feel, THEN do.

Not any easier for the Fall folks (West) who start taking action, but become afraid of the consequences of their actions ((feelings are South and moving backwards!).  Or the Summer people (South) who come from their heart, but feel compelled to justify their feelings based on their beliefs (which is East, backwards!).

Interestingly, even though there is the seduction to move backwards, it doesn’t take a whole lot of experimentation to feel the soothing effects of moving in flow with the correct, clockwise direction.  I had an opportunity several years ago to learn about this system of connection and have made it one of my “tools.”  When I remember to begin a project founded on my beliefs, feel for direction from my heart, create a prototype of the end result, and then create a plan, this tool invariably smoothes the way for a project to flow with ease and grace.

2.     Do a little experimenting of your own. Use a small challenge in your life.  Begin the process according to your season of birth (birth months in parenthesis) and fill in the blank after each statement with the first thing that pops into your mind, ie. don’t “try” to come up with an answer, just put your pencil to the paper and write down whatever is present.  Notice what new insights show up for you.

My Friend Charlie

My friend Charlie left his physical body last Saturday. His body was 92 years old and had been a very good body to inhabit for many years.

I met Charlie at fitness camp the year I was 31 and he was 69. Interestingly, I just found out in a bio that was the year he was named an All American triathlete. I just knew he was an “old man” who was a good runner and had the unusual habit of carrying a long bone, decorated Native American style, as he ran. Charlie’s name is still in the record books holding many of the age group records, both in Texas and nationally, for distances from the 5K to the marathon. Here he is at age 88 running the Fort Worth Cowtown 10K (which he helped start in 1979) on a blustery and cold February day.

As I got to know and love Charlie, he stopped being an old man and became ageless. He had the enthusiasm and curiosity of a young person, the wit and intellect of a man full of life experiences, and the wisdom and groundedness of an old soul. Charlie was generous, humble, kind, funny, smart, and spiritual. He always made me feel like I was his “special” friend, yet, I know that each and every one of his friends also felt that way.

In recent years I began to talk to Charlie about his beliefs about the world, why we’re here and who we really are, since that was my current interest. Charlie was a man of science and approached these concepts from the intellect. (Being born in the winter, this is exactly the way of his design according to the medicine wheel philosophy, something he ascribed to.) I’m more of a feeler, more interested in energy states. In our little microcosm we mimicked the world of science and spirituality, and just as is happening in that macrocosm, we found our intersection in quantum physics. We shared resources, talked about our non-physical selves as energy, and listened to each other’s perspectives.

What stuck with me was a state he called the “forever now.” I shared with him some of my “expansion” exercises.  These came close, but never quite matched the ecstatic (?), peaceful (?) state, he experienced only once or twice in his life, his glimpses behind the veil. I feel quite sure he is currently experiencing the “forever now,” a state that is beyond any intellectual description or feeling either of us could imagine in our conversations.

When I was in college I read Jonathon Livingston Seagull and I loved this quote. It seems appropriate. So, to my friend Charlie, with love:

“Remember, Jonathan, heaven isn’t a place or a time, because place and time are so very meaningless…. If our friendship depends on space and time, then when we finally overcome space and time, we’ve destroyed our own brotherhood. But overcome space, and all you have left is Here. Overcome time and all you have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don’t you think that we might see each other once or twice?“

How Many Ways to Connect to Your Higher Self?

Technology as a Spiritual Path – Roger That!

Learning new technology is the spiritual path I’m now walking.  It must be, because why else would my computer consistently bring me face to face with my dark side?

I’ve spent years peeling away conditioning, feeling through resistance and self-sabotage, and expanding my consciousness, yet when a highly touted software program is ridiculously difficult to use, I find myself in a big, dark energy field full of helplessness, frustration and blame.  I feel angry, full of spit and vinegar when I’m trying to do what I think the program says to do and it doesn’t work, and the user’s guide seems to be in Latin and the 24/7 live chat is off the air.  Guidance from my Higher Self at this point is miles away as I sink into the emotional whirlwind of overwhelm and self-pity.  Yes, Virginia, you still can access those “darker” energies even when you think you are an awakened being.

In comes “Roger” one Sunday morning. “Roger” was a field of energy that showed up and told me to call him whatever popped into my mind because where he is there are no names; beings are recognized by their unique energy field instead.  Communication is all through telepathy and physical form is just something to play with.  As I’m learning this from Roger he morphs into several shapes that I can recognize as an image, and several more that I can’t “see,” but can only feel.

Roger is here to help me with all of this new technology.  He’s been trying to get my attention, but I’ve been so lost to the frustration, anger, and blame that I couldn’t hear him.  Near the end of our “conversation,” we stood back to back (energetically of course) and held hands and then together, he morphed us into a tree.  In flooded those wonderful feelings of peace, strength and steadfastness that have eluded me for weeks.  Ahhh, now I have a broader perspective.  In this moment I can see the opportunities for growth and evolution that are showing up as computer and project issues.  Even though I had recognized this potential before, I now received this knowing in a more cellular, deeper way that is not describable with words, but in Landmark vernacular, I really “got it.”

So, have all of my technology issues gone away with my new enlightenment?  Not yet, though I have been able to access Roger a couple of times to help smooth the way with a project or two. But, I’ve also gotten lost in frustration, helplessness and judgment, raging at the computer, the programmers and anyone else that seems connected to the problem.  I’ve often told my clients that our relationships are our biggest spiritual growth opportunities.  Right now, it appears my computer/technology is that relationship for me!

The fun part of this story is Roger.  Is he just a figment of my imagination?  Is he another aspect of me living out a life in another dimension, time or space?  Or is he a guide from the non-physical plane sent to give me assistance?
